Cows Nap Standing Up, and Other Silly Animal Trivia

I find animals very fascinating. From the smallest house cat to the biggest tiger, bumblebees to bumblebee bats, even shrews and elephants alike, there are just so many amazing creatures in the world.

Of course, I don’t know everything there is to know about all the animals around the globe. I think it’s pretty safe to say that that’s impossible! Especially considering that scientists estimate that there are millions of different animal species out there.

However, I’d like to think that I know a fair amount, at least enough to win a round at trivia night.

Some animal facts are so strange that they almost don’t sound true. For instance, did you know that pigeons can be trained to tell the difference between the paintings of Pablo Picasso and those by Claude Monet?

Other facts are just kind of silly, like how cows nap standing up. However, they only sleep lightly while standing up and prefer to lie down to get some decent rest. I hate to break it to you, but cow tipping is just a country boy’s tall tale.

And of course, there are some animal facts that are just incredibly adorable, like how sea otters hold hands when they sleep so that they don’t drift apart, or how seahorses mate for life and hold each others tails when they travel.

Are you an animal lover? Do you think you know a lot about the animal kingdom? If so, test your knowledge with this animal trivia quiz!
